I’ve never been one to cook very much, but since COVID, I’ve been obsessed with the Food Network and have grown to really enjoy cooking for my family. I had been using some inexpensive plastic cutting boards, because I didn’t really use them, very often. But now… I’m cooking up a storm and with all the chopping and slicing, I started researching the best rated wooden cutting boards. I have always loved teak wood, and was immediately drawn to the Sonder LA Bradbury Cutting Board. All I can say is WOW! I feel like a grown up, and this cutting board is almost too pretty to actually cut on, but I will be using it for prepping fruits/veggies and as a charcuterie board, when we can entertain again. (You can use it for prepping raw meats, but I prefer to use a separate plastic cutting board, I can put in the dishwasher, for sanitizing purposes). This board is reversible, with one side featuring a juice groove to catch liquids when chopping fruits (or meats). The other side of the board features 3 divided sections, which will really come in handy when slicing multiple items, such as onions, celery, peppers…or whatever. No need for 3 separate bowls (less dishes to wash). When using the board for serving charcuterie, the divided sections are great for displaying crackers etc. Besides the beauty and functionality of this board, I love that Sonder LA is a small U.S. business, and I like to support small businesses…especially now. The cutting board arrived in perfect condition! No issues whatsoever. I’ve included three pics, showing the beautiful unopened box, the Bradbury board in the box with the product cards, and its new home, on display atop of my range. It’s way too pretty to store in a cabinet, and it will always be handy and ready to use, for all my slicing and chopping needs. I also ordered cutting board soap, oil, and cream, to keep up with proper board maintenance. Would I recommend the Sonder LA Bradbury Cutting Board to others…heck yeah! 5.0 out of 5 stars It's a beautiful and heavy cutting board. It’s a beautiful and heavy cutting board that I bought for Christmas. It was cleaned, dried, and oiled after recieving it for Christmas. As you can see in the pictures it has a separation at one of the joints where it was assembled. I just hope that it doesn’t separate any further because I do like the cutting board. It was a gift from my girlfriend who let me pick something that I really wanted and since I like cooking this is what I chose.I would love to give it more stars but the joint separation keeps me from it.☆☆☆UPDATE☆☆☆Photos of the replacement board are posted as a replacement of the original board.After working with Tiffany about the original board that I received the replacement board has arrived. As before it has been cleaned and oiled and this board is holding up very nicely. I do believe at this point that this board will last a very long time and I’m very happy with it. Yes my original post is still here because there was a problem with the first board but with the new board and the quality of the board and the professionalism of Tiffany and her company I’ve updated to five stars and pictures of the new board are posted. I would DEFINITELY recommend Sonders LA for the dedication to making sure you receive a quality product from dedicated personnel and their belief in quality craftsmanship. 5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful Design, Sound Execution. A Nice Board. This is a thick and heavy hardwood board made of teak. One side is well suited to carving, with a peripheral groove to catch juices. The other side features three wells that are good for brief storage of chopped vegetables. This really helps keep things organized when one is adding three or four different types of chopped vegetables to a dish at different times. For people who might use this feature, it’s almost enough to choose this board over ones with better appearance or knife edge retention qualities. The board also has finger grooves on the ends which make picking it up from a counter a lot easier. Very nice.The board is perfectly sized for carving and chopping prep work, provided a person has the counter space. For occasions when a person just wants a cutting board for smashing a garlic clove to remove the skin, a smaller board would be more convenient.I would rate the appearance as “good.” People after a clean and elegant look in their kitchens will find the two-tone look busy and attention grabbing. I’d not be inclined to treat this as a decorative part of the kitchen. Not generally a big deal.I question whether this would be the perfect board for people who are accustomed to doing a lot of heavy cleaver work to break down large pieces of meat into smaller chops and roasts: it feels just a little to lightweight for this. Teak is a wonderful wood, but it does tend to split a little more easily than certain kinds of maple. Also, I notice that the instructions require regular application of food-grade mineral oil to keep the board from splitting. This suggests that the wood may not have been adequately seasoned before construction.Overall, I’m pleased with the board, though I have not used it very much yet.Variation: Color: Bradbury | Teak | Edge Grain
