3.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but there's an issue What appealed to me most was that this was compact, and Zyliss is a quality name.There’s a safety caution I will give. The plates with the various blades stack up on themselves and they can also slide upon each other, which you would understand if you had one. Be careful if you are sliding them because they grip each other firmly and can suddenly slide to where you can cut yourself. Even after I knew this, I cut myself with a tiny cut. Best way to separate them is to do it from the side where you can push them apart. That way your fingers are not in danger.The slicing blade had a section of “burrs” from the stamping of the blade, so I reported this and got a replacement. The replacement had the same problem, but it was only one of the little “teeth” and i used a knife to sort of bend it, which meant the extreme end of the “blade” broke, I guess, but it was so tiny an issue that i decided to keep the replacement and say no more.The large grater is a disappointment. The size of the grate is smaller that I expected, and certainly smaller than most graters, but it will do. I tried it on a yukon gold potato and it did a lot of squashing of the grate, which was not very attractive, but I made it work. With chedder cheese it was better. I think I will still look for a grater for the larger size, but I’ll keep this because it is substantial in quality and has other features.I like the little pusher part that can be added to the main pusher after the thing getting sliced/grated is too small for the large pusher to grab.I spent so much time finding what I wanted that I really hesitate to return this, but I’m considering it. Maybe I’ll just get that single larger size grate and call it good.The housing of each piece is heavy duty and well made.I would recommend it, with cautions.Variation: Style: 4 in 1 Slicer Grater

2.0 out of 5 stars Still not sure if effective mandolins exist based on this one Got this mandolin to make slicing easier and faster. It’s faster until it’s not (slider system catches so it’s jerky and you have to muscle it through, slicing attachment and the base detach while using, have to reset the contents after almost every swipe). The blades are sharp though—cut nice and deep into my finger! Try a different mandolin and let me know if it doesn’t have these issues… or if we should all just invest in nice, sharp knives and give up hope.Variation: Style: 4 in 1 Slicer Grater

1.0 out of 5 stars Not like the old model. Cheap Cheap!! Do NOT BUY I owned the previous version of this one but broke the arm that holds the blades on. So, I ordered 2 of these one for me and one for my mom. This is not the same as the other one I had. The blades are thicker than the previous version and are also serrated now which they weren’t before. I have only used the slicing blade 3 times and the serrated edge is bent and the teeth are mangled and damaged. The slicing guard does not have good enough teeth to grab onto the food and stay there. The teeth it has slide down the food and slip and damage the food you are trying to slice. It’s worthless! These blades are ruined and this was not cheap to replace to begin with.
