4.0 out of 5 stars A Slice Above the Rest: Unveiling the Charm of OXO Good Grips Complete Grate & Slice Set A kitchen is a sanctuary where innovation meets tradition, and having the right tools is crucial for the culinary adventure. The OXO Good Grips Complete Grate & Slice Set sailed into my kitchen like a breath of fresh air, promising to be a companion in my slicing and grating escapades. This set is aesthetically pleasing and has been crafted keeping in mind the necessity of space optimization, especially in compact kitchens. From its snug storage to its sharp blades, it’s clear that OXO aimed for a blend of functionality and safety. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my experience with this tool:Pros+ Compact Design: For those with space as a prime concern, this set is a dream. It’s compact, easy to store, and even easier to assemble for use.+ Sharp Blades: The blades are commendably sharp, making the slicing and grating process a breeze. Whether it’s cheese, vegetables, or fruits, the set is up to the task.+ Versatility: With various blades for different grating and slicing tasks, this set is a versatile addition to the kitchen.+ Safety Features: The set comes with a food holder that ensures your fingers remain unscathed during the grating process.+ Ease of Cleaning: Post use, cleaning is straightforward and hassle-free, a feature that adds to the set’s charm.+ Affordable: For the utility it offers, the price tag is reasonable, making it a cost-effective choice for many.Cons- Non-Secure Fitting: A common grievance is the lack of a secure fit of the grating plates on the lid, which can cause a bit of slippage, especially with hard vegetables.- One-Size Cuts: The set doesn’t offer an option to adjust the thickness of the slices, which could be a limitation for some.- Plastic Quality: The plastic, especially on the hand guard, could be of a higher quality to enhance durability.- Minor Design Flaws: For instance, the lack of a locking mechanism for the grater on the clear container can make the process a tad cumbersome.- Color Staining: Certain foods like carrots may leave a stain on the plastic, albeit this is a minor issue and more of an aesthetic concern. The OXO Good Grips Complete Grate & Slice Set has been a mostly delightful addition to my kitchen arsenal. It has significantly reduced the time I spend on prepping, which is a boon on busy days. The minor design shortcomings do call for a pause, but they don’t overshadow the utility and convenience this set brings to the table.Every kitchen tool tells a story of functionality meeting design, and this set from OXO has its narrative steeped in compactness and efficiency. It might not replace a professional mandoline or a high-end grater, but it surely carves its niche in the daily grind of a home cook’s life, offering a blend of safety, compact design, and efficiency without burning a hole in the pocket. And in the grand scheme of kitchen adventures, isn’t that what we seek in a loyal companion?

    EXCELLENT

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this compact and versatile set. I’m impressed with the design of the product, how the different blades nest inside and the holder can turn into a tray for holding sliced and shredded foods. I do struggle some using the holder, as it doesn’t seem to grip hard vegetables especially. Overall, it works great, and it’s simple and easy to clean. It tucked away in a corner in the cabinet, much more compact and clever in design than clunky shredders. As always, I’m impressed with OXO design and functionality. I have lots in my kitchen and highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great When You Don't Need A Lot Of An Ingredient In A Recipe I purchased this OXO Grate & Slice Set for small jobs. I use it when I want to add a little onion, carrot, celery or something to a recipe. I use it when I want to add a little cheese to a salad rather than pulling out the larger grater or the food processor. It has a mandolin with a protective food holder to protect your fingers, coarse and medium grating blades and straight/julienne slicing blades. I wanted something that didn’t take up a lot of space so this is perfect because the blades fit inside the unit when not in use. The blades lay in the top of the cup that holds the chopped/sliced food. It’s compact and works great for small jobs.

    EXCELLENT

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well designed product I love how this product is designed so very well. This particular set also includes a blade which will make little shreds of carrots or radishes or whatever you like. It makes it so that there’s an end to the shred, which is nice if you’re shredding something that can get pretty big. The plastic gripper thing that holds the fruit or vegetables is sharp enough to hold onto carrots and other hard vegetables like potatoes, so you don’t get your hand sliced off. It works very well, but it does limit how close you can get your vegetable to the shredder blade and there’s always a little leftover at the end. It’s very easy to clean in the dishwasher and what I really love is that it stores well. There are little slots for Everything in the base and it leaves it all separated to dry. It has an excellent top, which becomes what you great everything into and it has corners which are of a rubbery type material maybe silicone which grip the countertop and don’t slide. The individual blades fit beautifully in the top, which lets you measure how much your grading or slicing. After about 10 dishwasher cycles, some of the numbers started wearing off. It’s really thick, good quality plastic, the easiest one of these products I’ve ever owned to use and I would 100% buy it again

5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient I love this little set, easier to use than a mandolin, and the built in plastic containers is more convenient than using a slicer over a cutting board.

    POOR

1.0 out of 5 stars Yet another formerly good product cheapened until it stinks Like others, I bought this product to replace the previous version. I used that one multiple times a week until the most often used grater blade cracked. I should have listened to the people who warned me in their reviews. Listen to me now. This is not the sturdy, functional tool we all used to expect from OXO. This is garbage. The previous version of this had slots for each blade and the guide, so everything stayed neatly in the box.The previous version had a box that reliably latched together so if it tipped over in the cupboard everything stayed in place. The previous version of this had graters that sort of snapped into the base to provide a solid surface to grate against. The redesigned version has no slots in the storage box and the box is noticeably cheaper than the old one. The fine grater blades on the redesign must be duller, because it can’t grate parmesan like the old one could. But worst of all, the redesigned version sits in the base towards the “rear” and has a gap at the other end. This means as you push the food you are grating over the holes of the grater, you are entering force in a direction that has nothing to stop it. When grating anything firmer than a cucumber, every few passes over the grater causes the entire panel to pop out of its position and shoot off the end, leaving a trail of shredded food. You can prevent this by sticking a few fingers into that gap, but now you’ve got hands where you really don’t want them.I don’t even know why they did this? The whole thing costs more than it did when I bought the previous version, the materials are thinner and cheaper — but this design change doesn’t seem to have saved them a ton of money. It’s just bad. Did anyone try to use it on anything other than an overripe cucumber?save yourself a lot of money and damaged fingers and get an old-school metal box grater. This has none of the convenience this set used to have and does a crappy job.
