This is intentional! We add 2% size to compensate for PVC shrinkage. , so a slight size difference when it arrives is not a quality issue.

HOW DOES THE TABLE COVER PROTECTOR LAY FLAT ON THE TABLE?
Generally speaking, the table cover protector can be quickly laid flat after unfolding. If plastic table cover can't lay it flat quickly, try exposing it to the sun for a few hours or heating it with a hair dryer.

We chose this thinner one because some the reviews of the thicker one said that moisture built up underneath it. Our island has a wood surface so I didn’t want to worry about that.The thickness of this product is perfect for our use and is doing a great job protecting the wood. We’ve had it on the island for about 10 days.It does come a little bigger than the measurements and requires cutting to fit, but with the right tool it’s not difficult to get a smooth edge. It has also stayed in place with no problems. It wipes of easy for cleaning, too. My only complaint about this product is it comes in a roll and it takes a while for the ripples to relax. We did use a blow dryer as directed but that didn’t get them out completely. Not even after doing it twice. It is finally starting to flatten out now so I expect they will flatten completely with time.I put a big butcher block cutting board on top so I can safely put hot items on that instead of the plastic so it doesn’t accidentally get damaged by heat. All in all I’m happy and am planning to buy another one for my vanity top, and maybe by kitchen table.Lastly, so far no moisture has accumulated underneath.Variation: Color: Clear 1.5mmSize: 28" x 54"

That was in the instructions when I got it as it won it can stick to the wood after time and damage the surface.
