The bowls kind of suction together, but they’re fairly easy to get apart. Overall happy with the purchase. They’ve been in the microwave without issues. Only thing I told my boys is not to put anything that has a crisper sleeve or tray, such as Hot Pockets and microwave pizzas, as the silver really heats up and can melt the plate. My oldest found that out when he was little and melted a wheat plate. We’ve used steak knives on them, I don’t notice scratches on them. I got them on sale so worth the money.
