So when I make chili, I can brown the hamburger and then start the slow cooking process. I also like that you can stick it in the oven. For example, when I make green bean casserole, I can brown the hamburger by sautéing, then I can slow cook after I’ve added the green beans and cream of mushroom, and then I can take the entire thing out of the slow cooker and stick it in the oven to cook the tater tots on top to get those crispy. Started with something simple…white rice…which cooked it better than my rice cooker! Next was rice pilaf (2X, it was delicious), then chuck roast and gravy. Tomorrow, I’ll try to make apple crisp. This cooker is so versatile and cooking has become easier. There is a small learning curve to being able to figure out the settings and temperature; I discovered that the mini-recipe book that comes with the cooker will walk you through the steps depending upon the type of cooking one is doing. The size of the cooker is ideal for 2 people, with food left over for another meal. Love the timer.
