5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful addition to my kitchen The Farberware microwave arrived yesterday and I am extremely pleased with it. As a personal preference, I like white appliances and generally avoid stainless steel, but white appliances are getting more difficult to find.I was in the market to replace my old appliance that was beginning to have issues with not always starting. My criteria was 1) must be white, 2) 1000 watts of power or more, 3) small footprint because I don’t live in a McMansion. With those criteria in mind, I set out on my search. A took a trip to the local big-box W-Mart and was exceedingly disappointed in the options. This trip was a reminder why I avoid shopping there. I turned to an online search and, well, the current microwave items available are…. ok. I was beginning to despair when I stumbled across this Farberware microwave. Yes, it does have a stainless top and sides, but the front white door coupled with the stainless handle actually look a bit sleek. The cooking options and power wattage were acceptable so I took the plunge. The microwave arrived yesterday and even with the stainless steel (ugh!), the microwave looks very nice. I’ve used it a few times and am pleased with the lighting inside, the quick heat-up for my morning beverage, and also the decently even heat-up of the leftovers served during last night’s dinner. The quick heat buttons are also nice and it has the much desired “add 30 seconds” feature. Farberware has come up with a very nice microwave and the price is not outrageous. I’m giving it five stars even though I wish Farberware had also offered a microwave option with white top & sides.Hey there, Farberware, if you are reading this, consider offering this microwave design with white top/sides. Leave the door and handle as is – stainless trim for people who like stainless.Variation: Size: 1.3 Cu. Ft.Color: White Platinum
5.0 out of 5 stars Functional It took me quite a long time to pick out a microwave in this class. My apartment is about 560 sq ft so I needed something smaller but at least 1000 W says it seems like most food packaging says that’s the requirement. This is working really well for me so far and heated a burrito at the same time as it said the heat and an 1100 W microwave. I’ve been testing it with a variety of items over the past week and it seems like so far it’s all working well. I also read the manual completely before using. It says to clean it but doesn’t say how to clean it so I wiped it out with a damp cloth and then checked the manufacturer website for their cleaning instructions which was to I microwave a bowl of water for three minutes and then let it sit for five. And then I wiped the steam down again. I’m really liking this little microwave so far. I’ve been saving the box in case I need to return it but so far it’s fine. The instruction booklet also says that the first time you use it it can smoke a little bit that’s normal and then you might smell something from the electronics a bit the next few times which means the circuit boards are curing. I didn’t experience any of that but I did make sure that the first time I used it I supervised it. I don’t do anything super complicated in the microwave, just heating up frozen healthy meals when I’m in a hurry, vegetables, heating coffee, etc. So far this is perfect for my needs. Fingers crossed this continues and it doesn’t crap out in three months. Will try to remember to update this if it doesVariation: Size: 1.1 Cu. Ft.Color: White Platinum
1.0 out of 5 stars Slightly loose door, no "seal" to speak of, toxicity issue? Should I worry about radiation leakage in toxic levels? I do worry, so I give it a 1 star. There is some allowable “safe” leakage and whatnot, and yet…The door doesn’t close snugly in the upper right corner – maybe a 1/64th” gap that I can push in with my finger. This isn’t surprising since there is no “seal” to speak of. The closure is just flat metal to flat metal and the latches are plastic. It isn’t a significant gap. I certainly wouldn’t fix my eyeballs on the area to see if there is light coming through while it is operating. I like the unit. It is attractive, heats quickly and has nice features. However, all for not if the unit is unsafe.I will now go spend time looking at various opinions about what level of risk there is, if any, in using a microwave oven that has a slightly loose closure at the door. There should be NO question about its safety, though I notice a few other similar comments and one noting they had this issue and the replacement they were sent had the same issue. They decided to ignore it, i imagine, because one might think that surely if two units have the same issue it must be okay, OR, it is a tiresome issue – returning and replacing with no improvement, and one tends to give up.Farberware, what do you have to say about this somewhat imprecise connection between the door and the body of the microwave? Let’s see if they moderate these comments…if anyone else has some insight, please comment.Variation: Size: 1.1 Cu. Ft.Color: White Platinum
5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the money. This replaces a 20 year old microwave. After several days, this works just as well if not better. Initially it was a little louder. But after several meals it’s actually quieter. Operation is very easy, TouchPad is easy to use and see.The only thing that I found is that my previous unit returned to me front in 30 seconds intervals. It was slower turning. This one does not return to the front after 30 seconds or in minute increments. Not a big thing, but it makes me reach around hot dishes and cups to remove food and drinks. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars because of that. Otherwise it is excellent.I hope it lasts another 20 years.Variation: Size: 1.1 Cu. Ft.Color: White Platinum
4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine but it is loud when running. Microwave it nice looking and works fine. However, it is very loud when it is running. It makes me wonder if it will last with that loud sound when you start it. Other than that, it is a nice-looking microwave. Some of the features are hard to read.Variation: Size: 1.3 Cu.
