Product Description

Favored in home and professional kitchens, high-quality German steel cutlery yields a variety of cuts and textures - from mincing aromatics, dicing vegetables to filleting fish and chopping prime steaks. Suitable for everyday use, a German steel knife is rust-resistant and easy to clean, sharpen and maintain. The bloomhouse® German Steel 7-piece Cutlery Set with Knife Block is forged with a purpose - to cut and craft ingredients as required by any recipe you wish to learn, master and serve to your guests. Full-tang blades provide balance and even weight distribution to reduce pressure and wrist fatigue. Each handle is crafted from rich walnut wood to blend rustic design and lasting durability. As a nod to our Earth's beauty and resilience, the wood handle features an artisanal, grained pattern in a natural, deep brown color to add character to the knife. Stainless steel rivets secure the handle and the knife for a strong grip and improved control. Hand wash only. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the storage block.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attractive, well finished knives in 6 of the most common sizes the home chef needs I don’t toss around five star reviews randomly. The product has to earn it from me and this one does. First off let me start by saying I’m not a knife snob. There’s millions of gallons of digital ink spilled across the Internet about what is best, what shapes, what grind angle, what steel, etc. I’m not going there. I don’t need a knife with a blade made out of unobtanium smelted from meteors from space. I need a functional kitchen knife that reliably cuts things.I’m a simple guy who likes to cook. For a while I got caught up in the “ultra high end” knife race, only to ask myself, was spending 300- 400 dollars on a single knife worth it to me? Oh sure it gave me bragging rights, but in reality? No, not really.Consider this Bloomhouse block set. 6 of the most common knives you’ll actually use. Full tang blades with 3 rivets each through a gorgeously finished walnut handle. The blades are indeed fairly high carbon as they give a resounding ping when tapped on the counter, and magnets stick aggressively to them. Each nests nicely in the solid walnut block that looks more like furniture grade, than kitchen.Feel in the hand is good, they don’t get terribly slippery when wet, and they all arrived with remarkably sharp edges. Now one issue I have is that they don’t mention the grind angle. Most German knives use a 20 degree angle, most Japanese use 15. These appear to be even steeper than that, however my gauge doesn’t go down that far. I’m guessing they’re in the 12 range. That’s fine for precision and finesse. But takes away some of the backbone for edge longevity. So, we’ll see how long these function before needing their first actual sharpening. All that said, I find this set to be attractive, eye catching, well made, and more than adequate for any home cooking needs. Are these a bargain? Maybe not. Are they properly priced for the quality you get? I certainly think so. Would I tell someone to buy them if they need a good set of knives? Yes I wouldVariation: Color: Walnut Wood

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous knives in a well designed block These knives are so gorgeous! I ordered them in walnut and they blend seamlessly into our kitchen design sitting on the counter in that block. I love the narrow design so it doesn’t take up that much counter space. The knives themselves perform pretty well. They are full tang which gives them a good balanced feel and not too heavy overall. I’ve used all of them except the slicing blade and I could do without that one, personally. I would have preferred a 5 inch chef knife, or just one less knife and a lower price. But someone else may find it super useful. I like to bcc ppl but am pretty basic about it.I think in terms of the blade, sharpness and ergonomics they’re on par with the more expensive german knives we got as a wedding gift. Time will tell re durability, and how they perform after sharpening. For the price, considering the cost of high quality knives and the way these are constructed, I think they’re a good value. I question what care the wood handles will need down the road. I have some olive wood Bloomhouse utensils that I oil frequently. I’ll come back with updates if I’m surprised by anything!Variation: Color: Walnut Wood

5.0 out of 5 stars Asian blade design combined with European aesthetics PROS:Kitchen knife blocks often include more knives than professional chefs need or usually even want. This set has a full complement of professional food prep knives without anything superfluous, which is a plus—less really can equal more with food prep knives. It could be argued that this set is only lacking a Nakiri, but the Santoku has a Nakiri-like cut off at the front, so the Santoku is dual-use.The solid unfinished walnut handles are authentic walnut, not walnut veneer or walnut-style.The knives are all full-tang for durability and are well-balanced.The knife block, in a modern, assymetrical shape, will look good in any minimalistic professional kitchen.Blades appear to be sharpened to 15 degrees, like most Asian knives. They are VERY sharp and need to be handled with proper knife handling/cutting protocols.Blades are mid-weight—they look like European knives with the riveted wooden handles; but the blade weights are much less heavy than any professional Euro knife brand. And as mentioned, blades are sharpened to 15 degrees, while most European knives are sharpened to 20 degrees—the European sharpening angle will be less sharp and usually a bit more rugged.CONS:The manufacturer indicates that the blades and tangs are “German Steel,” That doesn’t really say anything about the metallurgy, how hard it will wear, whether it will rust. There are no markings on the blade to indicate what type of steel was used. It is called “high carbon,” but looks like it may also be rust free. I’m not sure. The storage block is rubber wood finished to look like walnut, but it only suceeds in looking like imitation walnut.Finishing of the knives is not comparable to professional food prep knife sets that are top of the line, but for the price these knifes are very good. All in all, professional cooks will probably find this set more than adequate for their multiple cutting, carving, dicing and other related needs.Variation: Color: Walnut Wood

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the prettiest knives I’ve ever had! I’m a tough critic on knives – I take them seriously, sharpen them several times a year, and have a number of different brands and styles of knives. I’m pleasantly surprised by this Bloomhouse set and it will likely become my daily driver! The attention to detail in the packaging is superb; it even comes with a cleaning cloth and sheathes that I would recommend holding onto if you ever ship to a mail order sharpener. (Or even to more safely transport them to a local one.)They arrived very sharp, with straight edges, and the block is actually stunning! I’m not a big knife block user, but this will convert me.The wood is beautiful and will need to be oiled semi regularly. That’s my biggest call-out – do not let these beautiful handles dry out! Don’t leave them sitting in water, and please, never, ever dish wash them. It’s a beautiful set at a competitive price for the number of knives you get!Variation: Color: Walnut Wood
