If you’re struggling to decide between a simple frozen drink maker and a true multi-tool for drinks and desserts, you can stop looking The main competitor and most alternatives, like the single-function slushie machines, only make frozen drinks, and often inconsistently.The Green Pan Frost does so much more and does it reliably, which was the deciding factor for me. I chose this multi-tool for its versatility. From frosty margaritas and daiquiris to tasty soft-serve and even gelato, the Frost can do it all with ease. It’s versatile enough to handle a kids’ birthday party during the day or spike it up for a late-night bash with the crew.I bought and returned the single-function Slushie machine because it was never consistent, even when it worked, it would briefly hit the sweet spot for just 2 minutes before quickly turning into a runny mess.The Frost just gets it right and makes it so much easier to turn out great drinks and desserts in little more than 10-15 minutes. 5.0 out of 5 stars Frozen gratification So far I’ve used it twice for ice cream. The family loved being able to get soft serve at home. The machine is a nice size to keep on the counter or store in the pantry. I pushed the slushie button and created some butter my first try. Make sure to use the soft serve setting when using heavy cream in your recipe. This machine is powerful and quiet. Clean up is easy using the cleaning cycle and warm not hot water with a little dish soap. After the machine self clean I finish with a hand wash and rinse. I would not use a dish washer for this. Also, do not put the whole double wall container under water. I handwash and rinse avoiding getting water inside the opening of the double wall area. My first recipe was a mango nectar soft serve. It taste great except for the butter pieces that formed. My fault. I used the cleaning function to put my mixture into a bowl. This function stops the freezing function but let’s the machine operate to remove the contents. When the ice cream seemed to be finished dispensing, I poured a cup of clean water in to help the rest of the ice cream out. I don’t like wasting food. Then I did the cleaning. This makes a nice soft serve. If the original setting is not as firm as you like it just adjust the temp by one click. Mine was just right. I made vanilla for the grands and they were so happy. I have been wanting to get an ice cream maker because all of the ice cream these days has a ton of trash ingredients, so much so that some of them can’t be listed as ice cream anymore.With that being said depending on what flavor you want this machine can make it with only a few ingredients and it does an awesome job. My wife made vanilla soft serve using the GreenPan recipe with regular sugar and vanilla with the coconut sugar and the coconut sugar by far gives the ice cream that over the top flavor because it neutralizes the vanilla extract. Both batches were quick and the texture was great.The machine is built sturdy and the GreenPan brand is very good. We own a set of the pots so I have been watching this machine waiting for a sale as it is a bit pricey. The machine keeps the temperature perfect and even after putting it in the freezer it still has a great texture.Honestly can’t wait to break out the new juicer so we can try the natural flavored sherbet.
