5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but we like them My father has nerve damage in his hands and accidentally drops things often- these mugs are great because he can wedge has hand in the handle and it’s not too heavy. He also has a medical condition that limits his ability to swallow so he exclusively consumes liquids and they must be quite hot for him to swallow. Because of the double wall insulation he isn’t at risk of burning his hands on the outside (because he has very little sensation in his hands/fingers) when they have a very hot liquid inside. These are pretty much the only mugs he can use.The only thing that we don’t love is that they break easily- if it slips while washing in the sink it can shatter pretty easily and unexpectedly. But they *are* glass so that’s pretty much a given and I can’t complain too much about it. We just buy a lot of them to have on hand. 5.0 out of 5 stars Insulated cup keeps coffee hot, but probably not how you think it does. I like that it keeps coffee at a drinkable temperature longer and that you can see the color and clarity of the coffee. However, the drinkable temperature is not because the insulation reduces the loss of heat over time compared the glass mugs we used previously. It is because there is much less heat loss to heat the mug when the coffee is first poured into the cup. I heated both mugs to about 105 F and poured hot coffee in from the coffee pot. When I took the temperature the coffee in the glass mug dropped to 185 F while the coffee in the insulated cup dropped to 195F. Over the next 20 minutes this 10 degree difference remained pretty constant. Both mugs dropped a little over 50 degrees F over the next 20 minutes I assume this is because the greatest heat loss over time is the heat radiating from the coffee to the air at the top of the cup while the heat radiating from the solid glass and insulated glass mugs is relatively small.This suggests if you heat your mugs to about 200 F before putting your coffee in the performance of both cups over time would be similar. If you would like to drink your coffee over about 20 minutes or so having a cover for the insulated glass mugs would be necessary. I looked for an insulated glass mugs with a top but could not find a satisfactory item.If this mugs came with a top it would be perfect.Variation: Size: 12 OuncesStyle: Coffee Mug Set
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic coffee mugs Love my morning coffee, and love it more now with these glasses. Using daily for several weeks now, no issues. Glass is crystal clear and beautiful. The glass is barely warm to the touch when filled with near boiling water and definitely helps retain heat better compared to a standard mug. Yes, they are very light and seem fragile, but same as you would expect from a nice wine glass. I have not put them in the dishwasher, I simply hand-wash. Takes 2 minutes, so why risk it. Used the microwave several times with no issues. Love the zwilling logo at the bottom of the glass. Nice touch.
