5.0 out of 5 stars *Heavy* cast iron pot, that is as good as La Creuset. We bought this pot during just prior to Christmas on an incredible sale. We’ve wanted a la Creuset for a while based on using other family member’s pots, but couldn’t justify $300+ for a single pot. So going into this purchase, our biggest concern was that at this price (less than a third of a La Creuset) it was going to be cheap, and for cast iron that means light. Lifting the box from the porch quickly quelled those concerns. It is a very heavy pot. The lid is heavy as well. We’ve used the pot several times and are quite pleased with it. Being solid cast iron, it holds heat well. So it is really good for long simmering recipes like chili. The enamel coating makes clean up easy. You should only used wood or silicon spoons, ladles, etc, with the pot to prevent scratching or chipping the enamel. Also, if you have a ceramic top stove, the instructions advise you to stay at or below a medium high heat. It sounds low, but once the pot warms up it holds that level and you can brown and sear easily at that temperature. The color is quite beautiful as well. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase, and would recommend. In fact, we bought two more as Christmas gifts, which were well received (including by someone who own a La Creuset).Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Light BlueSize: 7-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars A great buy for the most versatile pot in the kitchen For the price it is a very good buy. My previous Dutch oven was made by Clup which I received as a gift 35 years ago and probably the most used pot in my kitchen. It held up well but I wanted to upgrade to a bigger size and withstand higher temperatures in the oven. While this may not be the Cadillac of dutch ovens, it is a very good second choice as it is Americas Test Kitchens runner up or best buy. I agree that the large cooking surface is a big plus when browning meats or vegetables. Love the large capacity when making Chili, soups and stews since I like to make large quantities to have extra to put in the freezer.Love this pot as much as I love my Cast Iron skillet. It heats evenly, retains heat well and is easy to clean. Stuck on cheese is no problem. Let it soak filled with hot water for about 10 minutes and cleanup doesn’t require a lot of elbow grease. I love that it can go from stove top right into the oven. Find myself using it instead of casserole dishes. Works just as well if not better and saves on a dirty dishes. So far I have used this Dutch Oven at least 4 to 5 times a week and keep fining more uses for it almost every day. If you don’t want to spend $360 for the top brand, this is by far and away your best buy. With over 40 years of experience in the kitchen this grandma is very happy with her purchase.Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Cardinal RedSize: 7-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased I’m very please with my purchases. I bought two 3 quart Dutch ovens and one 7 quart. While the price of the 3 and the 7 are reasonable, the price of the 5 is nearly the same as that of the 7 so I didn’t buy a 5. I bought two 3s and one 7. I have a very small kitchen with very little storage space so all three stay on top of the stove. I can store one 3 inside of the 7 if I invert the 3 lid. The red color looks bright and happy in my brown and cream colored kitchen. It matches my Kitchen Aide appliances and Fiesta scarlet dishes. I make a lot of soup in the winter and I use the 7 most often and then put leftovers in a 3 to put in the refrigerator. Because of the weight I am a bit afraid to put a filled 7 in my new refrigerator. These do very well w my recipes. They warm up fairly slowly but keep the heat longer than a stainless steel pot. I have to be careful the bottoms don’t burn especially with milk sauces or puddings bc the bottom warms up long before the sides. I like being able to transfer the Dutch ovens from stove top to oven when cooking. I haven’t yet mastered cleaning them and have determined they are supposed to stay slightly stained and that’s ok. I use the 7s lid on my fry pan. I wish there were a fry pan to go with the set. I used to use a lot of cast iron but I didn’t like cleaning them and sometimes a black residue would get in my food. I like the enameled cast iron a lot better.Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Cardinal RedSize: 3-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice dutch oven but a discontinued model per Cuisinart CS. It weighs 12 pounds so not for anyone who can’t lift 12 lbs easily. Of course it is great for making gumbo and many other dishes. It is enameled cast iron. Love the sage color. Down side is that it can’t be registered with Cuisinart-apparently b/c it is a discontinued product. I tried filling out the form on photoregister.com/help as well as the Cuisinart customer support e-mail form. Neither would accept the model number. It is 7 digits. So, I called Cuisinart customer support and he had no clue what he was doing other than saying the model number is 9 digits. So, not at all helpful. I don’t know if this is a “knock off” or a real Cuisinart product. The model # on it is: CI650-25. It is Sage.Update: Still can’t register it but I really don’t think it matters. I have used this a cpl times and I love it. Food cooks well in it and although it is heavy, I have no problem handling it.Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Gray/SageSize: 5-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart hit one out of the park What a great pot! I bought a Lodge Dutch oven several years ago and have been using it but it’s extremely heavy, stains like crazy (and you can’t get the stains out no matter what you try) and is awkward to use.Still, trying to find a high quality enameled Dutch oven and avoid the very costly Le Crueset price, I bought this one and not only did I save a ton of my hard earned money, I received a high quality Dutch oven.I have used it several times to make chili, pasta sauce, and even pasta itself and it worked wonderfully (no sticking or staining that I could not get out with Barkeeper’s Friend).IT builds a nice fond which releases all the umami goodness into your dish with ease but somehow avoids deep staining. I am very excited to say HELL YES, buy this pot!! (And this coming from someone who very rarely does reviews)By the way, America’s Test Kitchen did a pretty highly rated review of this pot and it came in as a best buy over their predictive pick of Le Crueset as the winner.Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Provencal BlueSize: 7-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t hesitate at this price point. ($20 + shipping) I ordered this classic enamel cast-iron rounded casserole in a 3 quart size in order to make smaller loaves of sourdough bread. So far I have cooked basmati brown rice and black beans with veggies in it and they have turned out wonderfully. The item is well made with no defects or chips in the enamel. I love cooking in cast-iron and appreciate the even heat dispersion. I took a chance ordering this at a markedly reduced rate in a color I would not have otherwise chosen. I’m glad I did. The item shipped very quickly across country and arrived in pristine condition. The second one is on the way. The color is very neutral, almost like sage/putty. The inside finish is more of a creamy white. I can highly recommend. I have had other Cuisinart enamel cast-iron that have held up extremely well with oven and stove use. They are heavy, but that reflects the density of the cast-iron. I did some research into similar sized pots and apparently there have been issues with some of the other name brands (MS) having the enamel explode at high heat. I chose to go with a known product that I have been very happy with.Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Tea GreySize: 3-Quart
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend!! I am working on replacing all of my old kitchen stuff because we are currently in the middle of a makeover. This was just a new addition. I have the full chef’s classic in stainless but decided to buy my first cast/enameled piece to add a little pizazz to my cookware. Absolutely love the color and quality! I will be looking to buy some other pieces now. The value was amazing. Definitely as good as the Le Creuset but for a portion of the price. Cuisinart Chef’s Classic does not disappoint!!Variation: Style: Round CasseroleColor: Sea Glass GreenSize: 7-Quart
