5.0 out of 5 stars Astoundingly effective, whisper quiet, highly recommend. I bought a $90 tower purifier which took a long time to clear the air and which was noisier than a jet engine. I lived with it, but when the Canadian wildfire smoke descended upon us in NYC, I loaned it to my downstairs neighbor, who had elderly and special needs family members, and I ordered this as a replacement. It’s more than double the cost of the other unit, but based on the reviews from the New York Times and other review sites, the quality and performance are well worth the investment. So I splurged and got this unit. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the air pollution got really bad and I had been coughing, eyes were watering and I was forced to wear an N-95 mask at home just to breathe. When the purifier finally arrived, I turned it on and the sensor light went red to indicate the high level of contamination in the air. I opened the doors of every room of my apartment to let it go to work and after a few minutes at full power, the light turned from red to purple, and about 5 minutes later, it went blue. I took my mask off and the air was pure and fresh. It is an absolute superhero at cleaning a large volume of air very quickly. I was thoroughly impressed. The sensor is very sensitive and will turn purple if you are just cooking something that releases strong scents into the air (sauteeing onions and peppers, etc.) and it goes red if you’re burning anything.Another upside is that my kitchen smoke detector has stopped going off if I’m grilling something, because the purifier keeps the air quality under control. At the highest setting, it’s about as loud as my old purifier at the middle setting, which is to be expected, as you would only set it that high to quickly clear out a room or if there’s smoke from cooking, etc.But the massive volume of clean air it blows out in exchange for that short term annoyance is staggering. However, at the 2nd highest setting it is barely detectable, producing a pleasant, white noise background sound that you quickly tune out. It makes falling asleep very easy, and if you have the air conditioner on you can’t hear the purifier at all.At it’s lowest setting, it blows out a nice stream of air but is utterly and completely silent. You couldn’t even hear it at night time in a small, quiet room with the door shut. Amazing. They say you never regret buying the best. They know what they’re talking about. This is worth every penny and then some. 5 stars, all day.Variation: Set name: Mighty Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Very weird factory/chemical smell (Updated after two weeks) It works amazing, purchased to help with capturing vape/THC smoke (specifically concentrates) in my gaming room, clears up any type of smoke pretty great and I puff like a dragon lol. The purifier is very light compared to other purifiers I’ve had and blows very strong, filters seem okay not super snug but just enough. My only downside about this product is that it leaves this weird chemical or factory smell while in use which is why I’m giving it a 3 star, I’m hoping it will clear up with in the return period as it really bothers me, but is a good purifier. luckily I don’t sleep in my gaming room so get to have a break from the smell, maybe my nose is just that sensitive but I will update soon to report if the smell goes away or not.Update Feb 14th 2026: Its been about a couple weeks now with continuous daily use, it helps capture a lot of air pollutants and I am not having to dust off my electronics every other week, my PC seems to be dust free for the most part and seems like i wont be needing to clean/wipe it once or twice every month (I have some bad OCD lol). My lady also noted it helps tone done the aroma of marijuana when i have friends over, it doesn’t linger no where as long as it did compared to no air purifier, now don’t go thinking it will eliminate the smell entirely in mere minutes, it still takes a bit to rid the odor of any type of smoke aroma, but alot quicker compared to no air purifier. Now for the chemical/factory smell. After leaving the purifier set to either setting 1 or eco mode while away from home, the chemical/factory smell took a couple days for to dissipate that I noted in my initial review, the air now smells fresh and clean now. I also used the ionizer feature, but after prolonged use I felt like it kind of added some weird layer of dirty air and my lungs weren’t feeling it after being cooped up in my gaming room for hours and hours, with a bit of research id recommend using this feature for a short period of time, it does increase cleaning power by using charged ions to clump particles for easier filtration, should generally be left off or used sparingly. While it may boost cleaning power, they often produce small amounts of ozone, a lung irritant that can trigger asthma, this is why i had the sensation of a dirty layer of air. Rely on the HEPA filter for primary cleaning and use the ionizer only for quick, occasional refreshing. other than that switching rating from a 3 to 5, not every product can be perfect right out of the box, overall satisfied with my purchase thus far. will update if any issues arise with the product.Variation: Set name: Mighty Black

5.0 out of 5 stars A really great air purifier that has many key improvements/advantages over its competitors I got this air purifier for a relative that has COPD. They already had an Alen T100 that they were pleased with. But, as is common in multiple industries where a core product requires a consumable, it’s often not the condition of the core product but the availability of the required consumable that dictates when a product has to be replaced. While I’ve been able to find enough replacement air filters for that one air purifier, when the need arose for a 2nd air purifier for a second section of the house, instead of just getting a newer Alen, I opted to start the research process all over again and, this time, the clear winner was Coway And, as well as the Alen has done over the years, it didn’t take long to see how much better the Coway model was by comparison. A first major difference is in the design and aesthetics. With several color variants and another model with a more classic look, it doesn’t visually stand out as much as a typical tower air purifier does. It’s more stylish and “elegant”. Second, there are actual very practical functional reasons for those aesthetics. Instead of blowing air on people horizontally, it blows the air straight up so that nobody feels the air blowing. It’s also significantly quieter so even set on medium speed it’s quieter than the Alen at low speed. That’s impressive given that this model is designed to handle a space 3X as much as the Alen was. But, it’s due to the design of having the air come in from the sides and then exit out the top. It just provides a much more natural method of air circulation. And, also means it can be tucked along a wall and out of the way … with the cord blocked from view if located directly at the power outlet. Another great feature that the Coway has that I haven’t seen before is that you have 4 stage filtration …. with the initial pre-screen stage being a built-in filter that can be washed … followed by the 1st charcoal filter to catch large objects like hair …. followed by a 2nd filter that have 4 replacement options and therefore can be customized based on what types of odors or particles a person needs filtered out … and finally the HEPA filter that catches the smallest particles that make it past the other three. Not only is this like a coin-sorter process of filtering out different things at different people … but this is why, unlike a lot of air purifiers, the main filters can last 1 year instead of just 6 months. The built-in filter is recommended to be cleaned once a month. The charcoal filter 6 months. The “environmental/smell” filter being replaced once a year. And, the HEPA filter being able to last even longer depending on environment. Where it actually gets better at filtering over time … but then the tradeoff is air flow reduction. That’s why the official recommendation is still once a year. And, best of all, the NYT wirecutter review I’d found says Coway has made continual improvements over the years to this product, which really shows. Many manufacturer’s just seem intent on constantly reinventing the wheel and it seems Coway was instead focusing on perfecting what it already had. Very pleased with the results and the good deal we’d gotten on it. While we hope the Alen continues to do well for several more years, at least it’s nice knowing that we already know what to replace it with whenever it become necessary.Variation: Set name: Mighty White

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Purifying While Cooking This is my first and only air purifier and it more or less does the job I was expecting it. I like the different options in strength of purification it has as well as the ion enablement capability. This works in any room size, however it is a bit bulky to transfer room to room, especially if you’re petite like me. I also really enjoy the timer setting it has, so I don’t have to manually turn off the purification. Lastly, there’s an option to turn off the indicator light if you have it running at night. I found the best use case for the purifier is when you’re cooking a lot of grease in the kitchen (in my experience). When I tested it out while cooking some steaks, the air quality was immediately detected and it started purifying it. I initially got this purifier to lessen my indoor allergies and to be honest I don’t think it’s made an impact, but I still think it’s a good product to have around.Variation: Set name: Mighty White

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked this so much I came back and bought a second one! I think so highly of this that I have purchased multiple. It works great in our large bedrooms to manage dog hair and dander (we have a large German Shepherd, so it manages A LOT of hair). I also have one in my daughter’s room where she keeps a herd of 3 guinea pigs. Before this was in her room, it always felt dusty and smelled like hay. Now the dust is much improved, and the hay smell is totally gone. We do use it with pet filters and keep it running on low all the time. At low speed, you almost can’t hear it. At the higher speeds, it sounds just like white noise, so it is still just fine to run at high over night. The first layer filter is easy to clean, and all layers of the filter are easy to change. The first layer we clean about weekly, but it tells you when it needs to be cleaned (for us, this is where most of the dog hair catches). The disposable filters only need to be replaced every few months, and they are easy to change. This has made a huge difference for me in the air quality and breathability of the room air in our bedrooms.Variation: Set name: Mighty Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly quiet and scrubs the air clean. I am very happy with this air purifier. Since I keep it in my bedroom, quiet oparation is a must. It didn’t disappoint in this regard. It is so quiet I sometimes have to check to see if is on. Other purifiers are quiet when you first get them. But they almost always have a cheaper sleeve bearing fan motor that inevitably begins to rattle an buzz after you have had it for a while. This product claims to have a better motor so time will tell. Also, it really cleans up the room air compared to my last air filter. I hardly ever have to dust anymore. It has a lot of extra features, modes and displays. I just set the fan to speed 1 and let it run 24/7.You can’t go wrong with this product.Variation: Set name: Mighty2 White

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Expectations After being very impressed by the 400 in the main, open living/cooking/eating areas of the house, added a Mighty2 to the bedroom. Just as impressed by the Mighty2’s performance. Noise level is low on settings 1 and 2; reasonable on setting 3/3 and the noise level on “Turbo” mode is not bad. It’s a consistent white noise of air being moved and not a mechanical, rattling, whining noise. Wife loves some white noise to go to sleep to…I’m not big on it but much prefer the Mighty2’s Turbo noise to a box fan on low or medium settings.Performance is fantastic. Noticeably fresher air and has worked wonders keeping dust/dander/dog hair from settling on surfaces in between dusting and vacuuming sessions. We keep a clean house, but two dogs will always leave a bit of “funk” in their trail…the Mighty2 and 400 make light work of cycling that funk through the carbon filter and replacing it with fresh, neutral smelling goodness. Was skeptical of air purifiers in general…glad my wife talked me into giving them a try. Extremely effective at what they do, no snake oil in Coway’s offerings so far.Variation: Set name: Mighty2 White
